You’ll get a fairly good close up of a non-American scrape reed. Is this a German scrape, maybe?

Anyone want to fill me in on what he’s saying? And does it say where he plays?
reed on!

Not an oboe player? Shop Sheet Music Plus and see what you find!
Or just shop Amazon.com
It could be German scrape, it looks like it. They look like this: www.das-oboenrohr.de/images/oboenrohr_schulz.jpg
I don’t know if it’s really called “German scrape” though, I use them too and I’m dutch, but not everyone around here uses them, about a year ago I had reeds where the scraped part was much longer. And the book I have about how to make these reeds is in German, so I guess it comes from Germany originally.
It could be I’m calling them “German” because a friend of mine who uses them says he learned the scrape in Germany. Who knows?! I know ours can be called “long scrape” or “American scrape” and that there are actually at least two variations of “our” scrape.
I have some reeds from China, and I would love to find out if anyone can really play on them, or if they are like the horrible machine made things they sell at music stores here. I can’t get one sound out of them, they are so thick!
Ah reeds … such a curse! (For me, anyway.)
I Googled Rodrigo Nagamori and it looks like the group he plays with is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Of course I should have done that, Bill … I’m even lazier than usual these days! Oh dear ….
