On an electric bassoon! (Once again, a bassoonist is doing something fun. We oboists need to do something fun, don’t you think?)

  1. Pretty neat. I’d much rather hear that contra he’s got tucked away behind though…

  2. I hear a contra behind me at every rehearsal (and now moving into performances) of Anna Karenina. The player and I have, in fact, a solo together. :-)

  3. You with the contrabassoon? Wouldn’t that be a duet together? :)

  4. Actually I’d think of it more as a soli … but you can call it a duet if you want. I just wrote “solo” rather than getting into the whole music lingo thing …

But it’s an interesting thing, to take this somewhat seriously. Some things I think of duets, and some I think of as solos. I’m not exactly sure how to explain it.

It’s a rather interesting soli/duet/solo; unison oboe & contra octaves apart … & not exactly easy intervals.

  5. (BTW, how did you audition go, Bill?)
