Hello Teacher,
I am Kelly Freeman, I am 59 years of age , I will like you to know that i got your e-mail as a private teacher and i will like to know if my daughter can join your private class. My daughter name is Lucia, she is coming over to your country for long vacation starting from 7th of March, 2011 and at the same time i like her to get lesson in with you, she is 16 years old, she is a beginner, first language (English), best hobby(reading). I hope you will accept her as your student?. So I’ll really appreciate it if you could be a part time teacher for her during her stay…You will be teaching her for 45 minute lesson a day for 2 days in a week which will be for just 8 weeks. So, kindly let me know your charges cost per week in order for me to arrange for the payment before she travels down to the States. I would also like to know if there is any Text Book you will recommend for her as a beginner so that she will be reading privately at home after the lesson during her stay.
Please Advise back on;
(1) Your charges per 45 minute lesson a day, twice a week for 4 weeks?
(2) The Day and time you will be available to teach her During the week?
(3) Tuition address?

[college name removed] Comm College just posted a job opening for an instructor to teach voice, woodwinds (with oboe or bassoon specialization) and brass. This looks like only 1 position. ARE THEY INSANE? College level and 1 teacher to teach all those!

We All Fall Down

Yep. It can happen to anyone. But first Muti and now this:

The Royal Opera House auditorium was cleared last night after 83-year-old conductor Sir Colin Davis suffered a fall as he mounted the podium steps.

Orchestra members rushed to his aid and an ambulance was called when Sir Colin tripped and tumbled, bashing the back of his head, as he prepared to conduct Mozart’s The Magic Flute. The audience saw him lying on the floor, but the paramedics were not needed and he stood and walked from the pit himself.

He drank some water and a message was broadcast throughout the Covent Garden building that he was fine. But it was decided as a precaution that David Syrus, who was on hand and already scheduled to conduct performances of the opera next week, should take over.

At his home in Highbury today, Sir Colin told the Standard: “I’m fine. I have had heart troubles. It’s been a bad year on the whole, but I’m still abreast, so to speak.”

She: Neither actually, Hard core Rock & Roll.

H: So it’s R&B. Which means you have good taste.

S: And what if I’d said classical?

H: I’d say you believe in fate.

S: ‘Scuse me?

H: As in fate versus free will. You see classical is all about fate structures. Inevitable build to an inevitable end.

S: But isn’t all music structured like that?

H: No. Not R&B. See R&B is about how it makes you feel, taking you where you want to go all at the drop of a nice bass line.

Then the guy proceeds to shoot three people. Probably a result of … dunno … R&B? ;-)
