Oboe and bass clarinet in duet, intriguing
It was an incredibly gorgeous day today, so Brandon, Dan and I headed up to the Cloisters. Guess what? They are closed on Monday. Oh well.
But here is a view from outside.
After that we headed back down to Madison Square Park. I took a lot of photos because everything was just so beautiful. I’d put more photos up, but the internet connection here at the Affinia Dumont is abominable and keeps on disconnecting, so it’ll have to wait.
Well, yeah, I don’t really paly bassoon. But I know this is outside some people’s world! :-)

Just bought an oboe! hmmm wonder if I can reteach myself!
Just rewound to watch the epic final movement again, but also to see more second oboe! #bbcproms
(from continuing tweets it appears the second oboist is very cute)
St. John the Divine was first on our list, and then we were to head to the Cloisters, but rain changed the plans and we wound up at MoMA instead. That’s okay … we’re flexible. After eating dinner with Brandon in our hotel room, we headed over to the Gershwin where I participated in Act II of Bohème. So here are just a few photos from the day:
I pledge allegiance to McDonalds of the United States of … oh … um … wait a minute!
I wish I’d caught the start of the chaos … people suddenly ran like crazy to get out of the rain. It looked like some catastrophe had struck!
And, finally, view from my seat at operamission, looking at the audience. (Sadly, I couldn’t see the singers at all.)
I’ve always been fascinated by shape note singing …

i need an oboe (reasonably priced). please think about this! i know that i know someone who knows someone…
I wish I was as passionate about playing the oboe as I am about piano and photography. It would help me so much in school.
