Audition Notice – Oboe co-principal/second oboe
Under the direction of Jung-Ho Pak, Orchestra Nova is a professional orchestra offering five classics
series each year, annual performances of Handel’s Messiah and education programs. In addition, the
orchestra performs throughout the county at various events.
Orchestra Nova’s philosophy is about being a revolutionary orchestra. We are looking for extremely
dramatic and emotionally demonstrative players who want to be part of our vision for a theatricallyoriented performance style. Our musicians show emotion, joy and passion in rehearsal and on stage.
This position is a transitional one. The musician will often play principal oboe, while playing second
some of the time. It is our intention to have the co-principal transition into the principal position within
Orchestra Nova is a per-service orchestra, performing primarily from October through May each year.
? Current Principal musician salary: Rehearsal $128.98/Performance $158.39
? Orchestra Nova contributes to musician’s pension but does not offer any additional benefits.

Live Auditions to take place in Great Falls, MT in May 2012
GREAT FALLS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA: Serve as Principal Oboe in the Great Falls Symphony.
Successful candidate should be able to double on English Horn.
CHINOOK WINDS QUINTET: Resident Wind Ensemble of the Great Falls Symphony Association.
•Performs with resident string ensemble, Cascade Quartet on the Great Falls Chamber Music Series.
•Education & Outreach (concert tours, school programs, and other community appearances)
•Expected to establish a private teaching studio. Musician determines fees and receives all income.
Other opportunities include importing to other Montana orchestras. Depending on experience: substitute teaching,
teaching college classes, or instrument repair.
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree preferred. Professional level orchestral, chamber music and private teaching
experience desired. Strong communication skills required.

Winning candidates must be authorized to work in the United States in order to be hired by the GFSA.
Only highly qualified applicants will be invited to this audition.
Final auditions for this position will be held in Seattle on Monday, June 11, 2012. Preliminary auditions may begin as early as Tuesday, June 5, 2012.

CURRENT CONTRACT INFORMATION – 2011-2012 SEASON:
• 47 week season including seven weeks paid vacation: (45 weeks Symphony/Opera and an optional 2 week Seattle Opera summer production);
• Salary for 2011-12 SEASON $84,492.00
• Workload and salary shared between the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the Seattle Opera Association;
• Benefits include medical and dental insurance, pension, disability, life insurance, instrument insurance, and parking.
